What is the Relationship Between Pregnancy and Menstrual Cycle?
Every woman feels they know much about pregnancy. Contrary to views
held by woman, decades earlier, that women’s fertility period starts
from day 10th of her menstrual cycle, and ends somewhere around the 17th
day of her menstrual cycle, recent reports suggests otherwise.
Now, it has been proved that women could become pregnant on any day of
her menstrual cycle. Though, it is true that the best fertility period
is from day 10th to the 17th of her menstrual cycle, but woman could
become pregnant even after so called fertility dates, which proves that
there are practically no safer dates to avoid pregnancy.

If you are a teenager, then any day is as good as a fertility period,
because women in their teens are likely to become pregnant much faster,
than women who are in their mid 20’s or more.
There has been much talk about menstrual cycle and pregnancy. But how
exactly menstrual cycle works in a woman’s body, and what are the
changes, culminates in a woman, which helps her to get pregnant, needs
to be discussed.
The beginning of menstrual cycle
As a baby girl is born, she has millions of eggs in her ovary, each of
these eggs is stored in a pouch, called follicle. The eggs remain in her
ovaries and wait for the opportune moment to mature.
Once the girl attains a certain matured age, the girl’s body begins
producing hormones, which leads to a reaction with the stored eggs. The
eggs then get matured, and that’s how the menstrual cycle begins in a
girl’s body.
How menstrual cycle leads to ovulation
Once, the follicles present in a woman’s body, where the eggs are
stored, gets matured, it starts producing a hormone called estrogen. A
woman’s body is tailored to produce more estrogen, with the passage time
during the menstrual cycle phase.
When body gets certain amount of estrogen, it reacts within the body to
produce another hormone, called Leutenizing hormone. The process of
producing Leutenizing hormone compels the follicle to break open, and
release the egg. This process in a woman’s body is called ovulation.
How pregnancy takes place in a woman’s body
Once ovulation takes place, the egg that has been just released from the
follicle goes through to fallopian tube, and stays inside the tube for a
period of 24 hours. It now becomes significant that the eggs present
inside the fallopian tube should interact with sperms, in order to get
fertilized. As soon as fertilization takes place, it heralds the start
of pregnancy.
The affects of pregnancy on menstrual cycle
Once your eggs get fertilized by the sperms, and plants itself in the
uterus, your body begins producing hormones related to pregnancy.
Hormones such as progesterone, and estrogen, which are also known as
pregnancy hormones, stops menstrual cycle in your body till the time
you, remain pregnant.
